ADAMS STORY
(1)

" Is that Adam screaming again?" said the nurse in the Maternity ward, "That child has screamed non stop for
3 days" This was just the beginning....................
Once we got home Adam never slept. He cried and cried, not something you expect from a new born baby. After many a night with Adam in my arms, walking him, rocking him, nothing seemed to work. I had to get some help. The Doctor said he had Colic, "try Infacol" the Doc said. I did and it worked for a short while but it didn't stop Adam crying night after night. We then learned to live with it......
Adam was walking and talking, well trying, at 9 months old. He was the usual toddler type, into everything he could get his hands onto. At 18 months old Adam was out of his nappies day & night, we had no problems.
The problems started to surface when Adam hit 2 years old. I put it down to the "Terrible Two's" but there was something else.... I couldn't put my finger on it. No other child would be as spiteful, biting, spiting and kicking his way through his 2nd year.... this wasn't normal, was it???
At 2½ years old he was throwing his lunch on the floor and against the walls. A new trick he found to get some attention and reaction was to head butt the wall, constantly. This was to continue until he was at least 3½ years old. It was one of his favourites. He always had bruising on his forehead because of this.
Around this time, he also locked himself in the bathroom with the hot tap running, he had gone into one of his tantrums. He would not let me in to the bathroom, so much so, that I had to call the Fire Brigade who came and rescued him through the window in the bathroom.
A few weeks later, he locked himself in the car, taking the keys with him. No matter how much we tried, he would not open the doors and was threatening to start up the car. The Police were called, they broke into the car to get Adam out.
"How can a child this age cause so much havoc?" I thought..........
